September is international FASD awareness month with September 9 being international FASD Day. This is to highlight the importance of going alcohol-free during the 9 months of pregnancy. The first FASD Day was held on September 9, 1999. The Central Alberta FASD Network, along with other FASD Networks across the country and world recognize September as FASD Awareness Month.
With FASD Month comes the Red Shoes Rock movement. This movement was started in 2013, bringing awareness and attention to FASD, by encouraging everyone to wear red shoes to FASD events. Learn more about the Red Shoes Rock movement here.
The Central Alberta FASD Network is committed to raising awareness, advocacy, and education about FASD. We continue to do this through outreach programs, education and trainings, and assessment and diagnosis offered to the Central Alberta community.
Thank you to everyone who attended our FASD Awareness activities in September and October 2024. We can’t wait to see you next year! Stay tuned for annoucements.
